New special editions of the 2012 Toyota Aygo revealed
The 2012 Toyota Aygo has yet to reach showrooms, but we’re already getting two limited editions – the Toyota Aygo Fire and Aygo Ice. The Toyota Aygo has been given a bit of a refresh for 2012 – just like its Peugeot and Citroen cousins – and even before the 2012 Aygo hits showrooms in the UK Toyota has announced a pair of special editions – the Aygo Fire and Aygo Ice. Both the Aygo Ice and Aygo Fire come with the freshly tweaked 1.0 litre VVT-I petrol engine, which now delivers sub-100g/km emissions and economy improved to 65.7mpg, as well as the tweaks to the nose, new LEDs, restyled bumpers, tinted glass and the smallest of interior tweaks.
Subaru's SHARC (Subaru Highway Automated Response Concept) has been named the winner of the 2012 LA Design Challenge. The judges chose the futuristic drone as the best embodiment of the 'Highway Patrol Vehicle 2025' with the judges declaring that the studio captured "the vision of Design Challenge theme by combining functionality and problem-solving technology around a dynamic and plausible story" from a choice of designs from six other automotive design studios. Studios from BMW DesignWorksUSA, General Motors, Honda North America, Honda Japan, Mercedes-Benz submitted concepts that would create a highway patrol vehicle for 2025 that tackled the ‘protect and serve' aspect while considering emissions, population growth and transportation infrastructure.
BMW X4 to launch at New York Auto Show in April
The surprising success of the coupe version of the BMW X5 – the BMW X6 – made it highly probable that BMW would pull a similar trick with the X3 by building a coupe version of their smaller SUV. That probability became a certainty when BMW revealed a the BMW X4 Concept at the Shanghai Motor Show, looking just like an X6 on a boil wash. Although BMW didn’t give any major details about what goes under the X4′s bonnet, it’s safe to assume the X4 will come with a similar engine lineup to the X3, an interior that’s also similar and a price point that’s a bit higher.
